Vain Is The Help Of Man

When the Lord repeats things we ought to listen. And when He says the same thing in many different ways we REALLY ought to listen. He wants our attention. He wants our trust. Too often we don*t give those things to Him. Too often we give our attention and trust to other men and too often we trust too much in ourselves.

Psalms 60:11: Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

Psalms 108:12: Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

Psalms 118:8: It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. 9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

Psalms 146:3: Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

Isaiah 30:1-2: Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: 2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

Isaiah 31:1, 3: Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! . . . 3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

Proverbs 3:5: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Jeremiah 17:5: Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

In spite of all these warnings and admonitions, we would rather trust in ourselves and other men, and have other men trust us. We must not trust men for more than God wants us to. It is especially foolish to trust in men who are not directed by the Lord.
